I wouldn’t be reluctant. Just let a gate agent know you won’t be on the second flight.

If I can fly out of BDL for early morning flights I take it. I can stroll into the airport 15 minutes before boarding and still have time to grab food from the dunkin inside.

I fly regularly and I'm equidistant to BDL and HPN. I always compare costs at BDL, HPN, LGA, and SWF when I fly.

I will drive the 30-40 extra miles to the NYC airports for a direct flight cross country or to an obscure destination. For a flight to a hub, though, I find that Bradley's fares are usually within the right ballpark when you factor in the total cost of parking and travel time.
