I'm looking for a nursery school thats good in the Glastonbury/Rocky Hill/Manchester area.
I want it to NOT be in a daycare center and preferably not run in someone's own home. I'm not familiar with the area, so please help me out!!

Why not in a daycare center? I think you may be limiting your options quite a bit....

I know I am limiting my options. We are currently in a nursery school that is wonderful and separate from a daycare center.

I just like the idea of the whole facility being geared towards learning rather then most of it being simply for care of children.

I've always preferred preschools to daycare centers, too. Unfortunately I am not familiar with your area, but hopefully someone can help you. Good luck!

KH02 - as I said in my DM, I have heard good things about Great Beginnings in Glastonbury. My neighbors love it there and I have a very picky friend who sent her kids there and they lived at the opposite end of town. Jay

Default glastonbury preschool

Hi!
I was in a similar situation last fall and chose Buckingham Cooperative Preschool on Cricket Lane in Glastonbury. My child joined mid-year and completed the remainder of the year. We both love it! For more information, call the school at 657-9181 and leave a message. (School is in session, but someone will call you back). You can also see information on their website which is Home. Good luck.

Default What about Hebron?

OK JayCT - Help me out here. I don't want to drive ALL THE WAY TO Glastonbury from Hebron because it is just so far!!!

Do you know any good pre-ks out there in Hebron? (I tried to get my daughter in the public pre-k, but they said she would have had to have been screened last september. )

LOVE picking your brain! THANKS!

Sorry ThreePitas - I do not know any preschools in Hebron. We have friends in Hebron but they sent their kids to preschool in Glastonbury with ours. Have you checked out nearby towns for places. Consider Marlborough, East Hampton or colchester if there is nothing in Hebron itself. Good luck, Jay

I understand your reluctance about day care centers I had the same, and maybe it was just a bias, but that's it.

i recommend you look into the coop on Hebron Avenue (I can not remember the name) and the Montessori school in South Glastonbury. I wish I had more time myself last year when we moved to CT, but I had to make a very quick decision after my first one fell through (Montessori school in Mansfield Center: too far.) Had I had more time, those two were the preschools I would have probably looked better into (neither had answered my phone call back in September...)

I eventually chose the Shirley Reaback preschool on Hebron Avenue, but I was not happy with it, although I ended up choosing it for my child's kindergarten next year. The kindergarten faculty seems to be very well prepared for the task and qualified. Not so the pre-K 4 staff.
