New Haven can be easily accessed from:
Ansonia and Derby via rt 34 which enters NH right in downtown.
Seymour via rt67 to rt63 stay straigt all the way and you'll be in the heart of Yale and the NH Green
Woodbridge and Bethany are great but can be a tad bit more expensive, houses in those towns sell for higher from what I've seen, so you might have to snap one up if it becomes available in your price range.

Also, all have 3 towns have supermarkets, and shopping. More and more stores are moving to the valley.

Weston is over 30 miles from New Haven. The commute would be about 45 minutes with no traffic. Easily more with traffic. Jay

Exclamation Do not move to New Haven!

New Haven is crime ridden, dirty and the taxes are outrageous. The police and the local government are totally corrupt. The city makes money off of towing residents' cars and unless you are on welfare or a drug addict your taxes get you nothing. If you can't pay for private school, expect your children to be a few years behind the children in any suburban school district. The only area that I would even consider is East Rock; however, even that area is not particularly safe - burglaries, armed street robberies, vandalism, garbage in the streets and rapes in East Rock park. The rest of New Haven is basically a slum. You might want to consider Milford, the West Shore area of West Haven, or the Spring Glen area of Hamden. Avoid most of southern Hamden, as the ghetto blight is spreading north, out of New Haven.

I agree that woodbridge and milford are great choices, but you may want to consider some of the shoreline towns. Someone already mentioned guilford and madison. Worth a look -- and given the current market conditions re: real estate, you can purchase a very nice home for $400K in any of these towns. There is a lot of inventory and many choices. Take a look at the individual town web sites. They are very helpful.

I heard that there is a renaissance going on- the town sees a lot of activity on Saturdays -there is great culture and theater and schools - I don't like the fact that they are reassessing taxes, but it sure sounds like it's up and coming...

Please elaborate on this. Re-assessments (or revaluations) are required by state law.

I know this issue was brought up a little while ago but I thought I would put the link out there anyway.

Cancer in Cheshire, CT

I had come accross this when I was looking for a house in Cheshire. I thought it was pretty scary.
