They are making snow in Colorado today. Snowstorm in Montana next week. The jet stream is dipping in the west. I hope it flips soon!!

This weekend was a thrilling victory by calendar summer over meteorological fall.

SUMMER > AUTUMN

Third straight day of 80 or above for New Britain. Wonder if Polish President Duda was expecting the late summer warmth for New Britain on Sunday?

Feel it today??? Upper 70s / low 80s but dew points are in the 60s so its muggy out there! YUCK!

Front is pushing east. It's over PA right now thanks to a little digging trough in the mid west. Main ridge is pushed out over the Atlantic where its sunny and hot.

Main trough is still out west. It better flip!

90 at Bradley International? On the first day of METEOROLOGICAL autumn? WOW! 88 at last check for New Britain's 06052. Dew point was 66. I now wonder what the latest 90 degree day is on record for Bradley or Hartford. I'm guessing it's later than September 23rd.

Fun fact: Almost everywhere in the world today has 12 hr 6-7 mins of daylight because it's still "day" as long as any part of the sun's disk is above the horizon.

BOTH poles are sunlight today!

Hartford's Max Temps for Sept 23-30 period.

90s have happened. Only 6 times. 3 in the last 12 yrs.

80s is more common obviously.

I used Cambium's "NOWdata" trick and found it has actually been 90+ in OCTOBER in Hartford three times (and all quite long ago):

October 17, 1908 (latest 90)

October 2, 1927

October 7, 1963

It also told me that the ONLY 90+ degree day in Hartford in 1960 occurred on Sept. 8

So not in my lifetime then! (1971) No wonder I don't remember anything!

OCTOBER 17th? DAMN! Where were records kept before Brainard Airport, if it's known?

All I remember for October is the 1979 tornado on October 3rd. Snow fell in some areas only days later. I don't remember the snow, but definitely remember being pulled out of third grade by mom early that afternoon (the 3rd), as the supercell was getting its act together. I was Vance Elementary School in New Britain.

OK...back to the warmth, as long as we still have it!
