DW was out at Westfarms today. She said there is a new building going up in the parking lot to the south of J C Penny. I don’t recall reading anything about this and could not find anything about it online. Anyone know what is being built? Jay

Had to drive past taking my better half to work yesterday. Steel is going up but they did not remove the pavement except for the column footings. There are no perimeter footings, and all of the steel looks to be galvanized.....covered parking for some odd reason? No signage around the area either.

Covered parking with solar panels above makes sense. They have that out at Buckland Hills. Thanks, Jay

Agenda item from Town Council meeting July 2018

"Site plan application to install solar canopy structure at Westfarms Mall, 500 South Road. Brendan Canavan, Safari Energy, stated this project will be submitted to the Citing Council due to the size of the project but that he would like feedback from the Commission prior to submission to the Citing Council. The project proposes installation and operation of a solar energy system including solar parking canopies located on existing paved areas and some rooftop panels."

Safari apparently specializes in such for malls: https://www.safarienergy.com/our-portfolio

Buckland, and Fenn Rd - Newington among them.
