Yep, I accepted a Bridgeport gig and am now researching the local apartment complexes - and I'm seeing the Cypress Apartments complex at 585 Ellsworth being majorly dissed on apartmentratings.com. Anyone here concur?

All I know is when looking for an investment property to buy, Ellsworth was the dividing line between good and sketchy Black Rock. Don't know anything about the complex, but I think that area can be crime ridden in parts.

[quote=jjbradleynyc;3551975]All I know is when looking for an investment property to buy, Ellsworth was the dividing line between good and sketchy Black Rock.

Actually, Ellsworth Street below Fairfield Avenue is quite nice, much of it part of an historic district comprised of shipbuilders' homes built from the 1830s through the 1850s with many quality restorations. However, #585 is north of 'the Avenue,' and is outside the parameters of the real 'Black Rock' part of Black Rock.

This neighborhood was historically the border of 'Hunktown,' a community of triple-decker tenements built for immigrant factory workers in the first years of the last century. It has as yet not been gentrified like the areas to the west and south and, while no means dangerous, it is definitely on the outer fringes of this desirable neighborhood.

On the plus side, across the street is the Burroughs Community Center with its beautiful century-old structure and several acres of estate-like grounds.
