Now that I've figured out how to use this website - I've asked three questions in 2 days!

Yesterday I inquired about good, safe cities close enough to Groton to commute for work. We're from MI so a commute to us is about a half hour

I'm now wondering if anyone has any insight on 'walkable' cities/towns within that radius. I live in a 100% walkable city right now (which I know, can be hard to find, and am not expecting 100%) and would love to look into an area in CT that is easily walkable too! Any advice?

Within commuting distance to Groton? Closest would be the 'town' of Mystic---once you see this gem of a place you will know why its so well loved.

Parts of New London have become walkable again. Colchester roughly half way between Hartford & new London is becoming more walkable.

The best places are far off; West Hartford, Middletown, Westport, Fairfield, Milford, New Canaan, Ridgefield, Greenwich.

You'll find that houses here tend to line a highway, and sidewalks are few and far between. Mystic does qualify as a walkable town, but as I mentioned before, you'll pay for the privilege. Pawcatuck/Westerly have some walkable parts. Old Saybrook has a small downtown area. We are in a subdivision that is walkable but you can't get to a store or anything. I was looking for the same thing, and settled for a walkable neighborhood over a walkable town.
