Summer Vacations?
Where do most people in Fairfield County do go vacations during the summer? I know there are alot of places along the sound shore to visit during the summer but i would imagine CT residents go to the islands off of Rhode Island and the Cape Cod area. where do most people go?

It depends on how affluent they are. I know a few who have beach homes in the Old Saybrook area, and there are a number of people who have homes along the RI shore (Watch Hill being very popular). The very affluent have homes on eastern Long Island (Southampton, East Hampton, Quogue, Montauk, Amagansett).
I only know one family who frequents Cape Cod. I think the Cape is more popular with CT residents away from Fairfield County, especially the Hartford area.

I didn't even think of that. I know many people from lower Fairfield who own beautiful homes on the lake.

Well, we're originally from MA, and still have family there, so we head to the Cape every summer.

It's still fairly popular with the "old money" crowd in Fairfield County.

Possibly. The town I grew up in in lower FC was mostly old money (at the time) and the majority of them vacationed in RI or the eastern CT shore.

I know a lot of families who head to Vermont or Maine for vacations, beaches don't appeal to everyone. Or some head to lakes instead, such as Lake George, or some lake in Massachusetts, I'm not sure of the name. For those who like beaches, I know of families who head to New Jersey beaches, Cape Cod, the Outer Banks in North Carolina, or Florida.

In our town there are several families with homes in RI-mostly the Watch Hill area. There are more families heading to the Jersey shore tho. When I first moved here, people were surprised that we went to NJ, now I frequently see LBI stickers or sweatshirts (Long Beach Island). Friends who visited us were very surprised how nice our community was!
