I was up in Oxford today and drove by Nod Hill. Beautiful area.
My guess is the OP was looking at the newly built home on the corner of Quaker Farms road and Nod Hill. Amazing home, and it SHOULD be in their price range.

I was curious about the street since i'm not familiar with it. I "zillowed" the street and the view in the rear of the property is a bit of a downer(junk cars and old out buildings on the adjacent neighboring quaker farms property). Maybe it has improved since the aerial shot was taken, or, i could have the wrong property as it's listed as 4 yrs. old.

Are you sure we're talking about the same neighborhood? Driving by yesterday, I remember the property behind (white, L-shaped house) and it's a beautiful old home, built probably about 100-150 years ago, well-maintained and it looks as if an addition was put onto it. The only car I saw in the driveway was a Volvo and the driveway was cobblestone I believe (?).

I'm not sure of the exact address but I believe the OP was referring to the home listed at $689,900.
I was up in Oxford again today visiting my parents. The L-shaped home with a cobblestone driveway is actually 2 homes away from the Nod Hill Home, as the one you were referring to is in between both (blue cape-cod style home?). I didn't see junk cars but I did see 3 cars in the driveway - a cargo-van, late model pick-up truck and a large SUV. It looked like there was also an additional garage in the rear. The home was very well-kept though - it looked as if the owner could be a contractor or something of the sort. Hardly anything that would steer me away from buying the adjacent home on Nod Hill.

Yes. Click on the west view and pan past the pool, you will see what i'm referring to: Bird's Eye View of 2 Nod Hill Rd, Oxford, CT 06478 | Zillow Real Estate

Here, you see firsthand the difference between the middle-class Oxford and the new-money which has spiked the population by thousands. That brick home at the end of Nod Hill is stunning!
OP - if you decide on this home, I wish you the best of luck. If you pan out and view the homes and neighborhoods within a mile radius, you will see the area is very beautiful.

Your Spelling Seymour wrong - Beautiful New Houses going in in Seymour
[\quote]I have been researching the surrounding area but it seems that a lot of the information is dated. If anyone can help us with information on the following towns I'd appreciate it:
Semour
Derby
Shelton
Oxford
Monroe
Any others we should check out?
Thank you lots![/quote]
Your Spelling Se ymour wrong - There are beautiful new houses going in in Seymour The town has a quaint downtown full of antique shops. It is right off route 8, and 334 easy to get to. Look at the new gorgeous houses going up off of Route 67, and actually exit 19 is still Seymour.
The town has way outpaced the old 2000 census data. The most current data we saw was from CERC.com; which is a quasi govt. economic data organization from the state, but again it is old data. The education levels achieved for the population seem way underquoted. There are 7 banks, not 5.The number of citizens commuting to Fairfield county for professional jobs seems way underquoted too; just about everyone on our street commutes, and are professionals. They've yet to update the name of the cable provider, again old data. The town has a reputation as being a mill town, but that is no longer true.
We used Seymour's profile in Great Schools.net for more current school data.

Exit 19 is Wakelee Avenue in Ansonia. It turns into Seymour at the bottom of the hill from the gas station, and Great Hill Road adjacent to the gas station is along the town line. The corporate park where the OP's husband will work (on Birmingham Blvd) is still Ansonia, but next to the Seymour line.
