Are you asking about the comute from West Hartford to Guilford? If so, it would not be easy. It is over 40 miles and would easily take an hour to drive. I would not recommend it on a daily basis. JMHO Jay

The commute from E. Hartford to N. Guilford will still be at least 40 minutes one way.

It's a long drive. It takes me 40 min or more from Middletown, and West Hartford is north of here-so it adds more time.

What about some other towns that have a more reasonable commute but aren't rural? I know West Hartford very well and like it and I am having a hard time living in a rural town.

Do you have to be in the Hartford area? What about New Haven or Milford? Even Middletown would work.

Why not Guilford, Branford or Madison? These are very nice towns which have nice downtown areas. Jay

Well, we moved from an area similar to West Hartford so would like to be in that area again. Also, one of us works in Middletown so WH is not a long commute from there.

Hamden would be a thought.

The downtown areas in Guilford and Madison are super-super tiny. Came from the Boston area and didn't realize how much of a walking city it was until we left.

What about Branford? It has a downtown that is a little bigger and the commute to Middletown would be reasonable. Also, I do not think Hamden is anything like West Hartford. Middletown has a nice downtown area. Maybe also consider Milford. Jay
