In Fairfield you can find a 1-2br modest apartment in your price range. You can get a bit more for your money in Stratford or Milford, but in your case, the closer to NYC the better. Good luck.

Milford is a wonderful town, but how about the shoreline towns of Branford, Guilford, Madison or Killingworth? Many folks do commute from this area to both NYC and Hartford. The quality of life is great. Take a look.

Please stop selling your area. If we could still give negative rep points, I'd give it to you (actually I would have many times already).
I agree, very bad suggestion.

There are probably three people in total that actually commute to NYC from any town east of New Haven, ie killingworth, guilford, etc. That area is not even close to Hartford.
I would suggest Milford, as have some others here. Milford has easy access to the Parkway, which connects nicely to 91 and Hartford. Fairfield is quite a bit of a drive, especially given the high cost of fuel these days. The commute to NYC will be longer than Fairfield though it least this is done on a train and not on the road.

I agree with the others that this is not a good suggestion. There are much closer areas that would be better for you and your husband. Jay

Don't see why everyone is getting excited about this suggestion. There are many folks that make this commute whether it is to Hartford or NYC. It is all about preference. No promotion intended.

I worked in NYC (near Grand Central) while my husband worked in Hartford. I worked longer hours so we decided to live a little closer to NYC than Hartford. We lived in South Norwalk. The commute to NYC was fine. The commute to Hartford is long (about 150 miles roundtrip) and with the rising gas prices it's quite expensive, but you're going against traffic.

I've read in the papers that Metro North has a new early am train into NYC on the waterbury line
!that does not need a transfer in Bridgeport!
So any town along the Naugatuck River with a Train station should be good for you. You'd have easy access to the highways to get you to Hartford, and your husband could hop the early train.

I am moving to Trumbull and was wondering if anyone knows about a carpool to Stratford Train Station. Any information will be appreciated. And I am also looking for any new employment opportunities, in the administrative and or paralegal area. Thanks again.
