Not correct. The A3 and TT are based upon the Golf, the A4 is based upon the Passat, the Touraeg is the base platform for the Q7 and the Cayenne, etc.,etc.
Audi/VW/Porsche/Lamborghini are all related and share various parts and structures to save $$$$$$.

Not I, but rather Consumer Reports considers Mercedes-Benz as much worse than average followed by Volkswagen AG (which includes Audi) for European brands. Here are their rankings, based on surveys, for companies selling vehicles in the U.S. (from best to worst):

1) Honda
2) Subaru
3) Toyota
4) Mitsubishi
5) Ford
6) Nissan
7) Mazda
8) BMW
9) Hyundai
10 Volvo
11 Chrysler
12 Suzuki
13 Volkswagen
14 General Motors
15 Mercedes-Benz

I did some of my own research with aaa and gasbuddy. Turns out that even though it's just a matter of 10 cents or so, Connecticut does have the highest gas prices in the US.

Today at Costco in the Lynnwood area I paid $3.68. My husband who is in San Bernadino paid $3.81. Looks to me like that doesn't exist anymore in CT.

I just could not believe someone had the nerve to accuse kidyankee of having an agenda when he is absolutely correct, and backed by every source available.

It doesn't exist anymore. Prices are rising by the day - it will only get worse for everyone.

Interestingly enough - San Francisco and Hartford had exactly the same average gas prices according to this CNN article.

Average price of gasoline close to $4 a gallon - survey - May. 18, 2008

Audi/VW/Porsche/Lamborghini are all related and share various parts and structures to save $$$$$$.
The last Passat used the B5 platform, which was developed by Audi for the last generation A4, until 2005. The Current A4 uses a B6 platform. The next Generation A4 is using the B8 platform, already released in Europe, along with the new A5 and upcoming Q5. This platform is not shared with VW.

The current Passsat uses the PQ46 platform which is a stretched version of the same platform used to underpin the Golf and Jetta. This same platform underpins the rest of VW subsidiary groups in Europe (SEAT and Skoda). Audi's A6 uses the C6 platform which isn't used under any VW. Audi's A8 uses a D3, of which the Bently Continential has a modified version called D1(and so did the VW Phaeteon)

The Q7 uses a modified version of the 7L platform called 4L, where as the VW Toureg and Porsche Cayenne use the 7L platform.

The only Audis to currently share direct VW platforms are the TT and A3 which use the A4(PQ34) platform, not to be confused with Audi's A4, the same as the current Jetta and Beetle.

Most VW's and their other subsidiaries run on the A platforms where as Audi runs on B and C platform specific cars. The two brands do share parts under the hood and interior, but platforms are completely different and specific to the brands.

They have Mitsubishi, Hyundai & Chrysler in that list, but no Lexus in the top 15? Doesn't make much sense to me... I recall ConsumerReports giving them very high marks quite regularly.

BMW has digital MPG read outs on the dashboard and under the speedometer. My 540 has 2 different ones, I can reset as a choose fit.[/quote]

True... for 3,5 & 7 series sedans with iDrive. The SUVs didn't go digital until 2007, which is what my comment was based on. My 2006 X5 still uses a needle gauge. Sorry, should have clarified.

Lexus is a division of Toyota and Acura is a division of Honda. CR includes these under the company in the ratings shown. You are correct though that Lexus has historically been rated very high but in recent years overall Toyota has dropped in the CR ratings. Jay

Thanks for yet another source. They went up again today nationally and CT is no exception.
