Default Thanks

I did check out Hamden, but not north haven. Hamden was OK, but there were WAY TOO MANY COMPLAINTS online about that place. Also it is a few hundred dollars cheaper than orange, and ALWAYS has multiple empty apartments. Orange almost never does. But the neighborhood around Hamden (avalon walk) is nice and the commute is short (around 6 miles). Don't know much about north haven!!

It was the best option in terms of location and distance. The building is also very nice. Hopefully I wont be disappointed. I want to thank you all for all your help.

And KittyK, Avalon orange is supposed to be the best and will be a great bet in terms of location and time away from downtown. Milford is WAY TOO FAR. I did a lot of calculations, and though Milford is very nice, it is not worth the traffic. That is why I chose Orange, and not Avalon Milford, or spinnaker.

Let me know what you guys think!!!

Cyrax,

I hope you are still subscribed to this thread
I am in a similar situation- starting a job at a practice on Prince Street near YNHH this summer and looking for a place to rent. Somehow I missed Avalon Orange and was more fixated on Avalon Milford.
How do you like Avalon in Orange? Is there any covered parking or carports (I've got a motorcycle which needs to be indoors)? How is the safety in the area?
Thanks!

Greg

Hey Greg,
Avalon Orange is very good and the area is VERY safe, much safer thaan Avalon milford. Its also closer to YNHH because you can just take boston post road and get there is 10 minutes. There are carports that you have to pay extra for. Good luck. Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks for this info, glad you like it there!
Are there carports by each apartment or they can be remote from the place you live in?
I'll be calling them soon to schedule a visit.
Thanks again,

Greg

Cyrax- I'm also about to start my residency as well and am desperately trying to find a place to live that doesn't involve a long commute (<15 mins) and is very safe. On average, how long does it take you to commute to the hospital? in traffic? Do you find yourself using the street route more often than not b/c of the highway traffic?

I'm really trying to decide if orange is worth the extra couple hundreds. The slightly longer commute from avalon walk is a bit distressing if traffic is going to be an issue.
