Hi, so when you at look at college's in the state. Hartford County is home to slew of private, public, and profit schools. On top of that there are 3 community colleges within Hartford County alone. 3 near by in counties that neighbor Hartford County.

Fairfield County has 2 but they are on the Sound side.

It would of or still make more sense for them to have a CC in Danbury.

You would get upper FC, Putnam County students, and Western Litchfield County students. Probably students from Western New Haven County.

Could easily have a 2 year program that then leads to a 2 year program with West Conn. Understand that West Conn is connected with NVCC. Just would make sense as the closest colleges on good days are 30, 40, and 50 miles away.

It seems Central CT/Hartford County, SE Fairfield County, and New Haven area are the education hubs of the state. With Upper FC and rest of the counties being bare with maybe few schools trickled in. With Danbury maybe the growth wasnt seen. Do feel a school would be a good idea to progress the City.

As far as Recreation wise. Two parts NY has a greenway system that kisses the CT border near Danbury runs all the way to NYC. Why and would the state build a greenway connecting these greenways. Then why not a greenway from New Milford to Norwalk?

Edited Fourth Question:

Also, transportation BRT bus from New Milford to Norwalk?

There is a community college with space in downtown Danbury, Naugatuck Valley. Their main local is the Waterbury/Naugatuck line. The town is working on lining up the NY state trailway that ends in the NY line and Danbury is studying expanding that trail through the Farrington Woods property and eventually getting it through town to the Tarrywille park.
There is a greenway trail under constrcution from Norwalk to Tarrywille Park in Danbury. Eventually it might hook up to the Still River greenway in Brookfield.

Remember prior to leaving there was mention of connecting the trail.

Know can catch a train to Norwalk.

Seems Danbury be better off with a community college of it's own. Like an Upper Fairfield Community College. Call it Western Community College place it in New Milford area.

There was something in the online paper in the last few months about the NY line to downtown Danbury. The greenway up to New Milford might have been talked for a while now. There is train service from downtown Danbury to Norwalk and if any train goes up ot New Milfrod it may be several years away with the Biden infrastrcutre bill. There is busing from Danbury to New Milford and Danbury to Norwalk, look into that with the HART bus system.

As mentioned, there is a CC hub there.

Keep this in mind:

Danbury metro: 264,621
Bridgeport metro: 939,904
New Haven metro: 862,477
Hartford metro: 1,214,295

Also, New Haven area has a long standing higher education tradition and schools tend to cluster together.

I had a lot of friends in the Danbury area that used to commute to Naugatuck CC. It's not that far.

I'm not sure that it would have that much of an economic impact as you think. And it would have to be a small school to justify in such a small metro area. The NCC satellite makes sense IMO. Also there are tons of online options for 2 year degrees now.

Re: a bus from NM to Norwalk, there isn't enough demand and it would be a long ride.

As Stylo pointed out greater Danbury doesn’t have a lot of population to warrant its own Community college. With Western Connecticut State though, it doesn’t need it. It provides a lot of the needed opportunities for higher education already.

The 30 mile Norwalk River Valley Trail is being built to connect Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk to Rogers Park in Danbury. Portions have been built while others are under construction or soon to be.

There is talk of extending the Danbury line train service to New Milford. There’s also serious talk of connecting train service from Danbury to Brewster where commuters can catch trains to Manhattan on the Harlem Line. It’s better than Bus Rapid Transit on crowded roads. Jay

The vast majority in Danbury who need a community college utilize Naugatuck Valley, which is less than 30 minutes away. Not needed.
