Hi Folks,

My daughter is planning an October wedding in Tolland. Almost everyone--including the parents and the bridal couple will be coming from out of town (long story) She already has a venue set but will need to book a block of rooms at a hotel in the area, preferably one with a bar/restaurant and relatively close to Tolland. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Heading towards Vernon and Manchester will give you the most numerous options with lots of your usual suspects (Hiltons, Marriotts, etc.).

There are not any hotels in Tolland really. It’s a small town so there’s no hotel there. The nearest ones would be in neighboring Vernon and I’m not sure they are what you are looking for. They are more of motels though the Holiday Inn Express looks nicer.

The Buckland Hills section of Manchester has several nice hotels. This is a major regional shopping district with a mall, most big box stores and many nice restaurants nearby. I’m not sure that any have the bar/restaurants you are looking for. You might need to go into downtown Hartford for that. Jay

I neglected to disclose that I lived in Tolland for 20+ years and that my kids grew up and went to school there so I know the area quite well.

I know there are a lot of motels down Rt. 30--nothing too thrilling. I was hoping to get recommendations from individuals with experience having to put up people for a major event, if they got a good rate for reserving a block of rooms, etc. I really wanted the guests to stay at The Graduate on the UCONN campus (my daughter graduated there and I retired from UCONN) but it looks too cost prohibitive during the school year so we're looking for a "Plan B." It looks like we'll be choosing from one of the Marriotts near Buckland or Holiday Inn Express in Vernon. Any bar/recommendations for an informal after party get together that wouldn't be too crowded in Vernon?
