I am not familiar with the term "north end" of Milford. Do you mean up Wheelers Farm Rd way? There are no bad areas of Milford, really. Woodmont may be slightly more desireable due to proximity to the water, but other than that it's a draw.

Yes, the house I am interested is entered from Wheelers farm road getting out of I95 exit 37 or I15 exit 55. Do you think the houses in the area are in a good location?
BTW, what do you mean "Up" wheelers farm road? Is it better than "middle" or "down" wheelers farm road?
Thanks

Either one is fine...*m
Hi, I lived in Milford last year. We rented there for a year while we looked for houses the entire time. I ended up moving back to NJ which is where I'm originally from. Anyway, I personally wouldn't buy in the Devon section. Not that it's "bad" per se, it just has a seedier look to it that I didn't care for. But I really liked the Woodmont section as well as Northern Milford. Both had good reputations.

No one part of Wheelers Farm is better than the others. Really, the issue of what location is better is personal. Neither has a negative I can think of. Both are nice areas.

I think what they mean by "up" is that it is north of the Post Road so on a map it would be up. The northern part of Milford is beautiful with a lot of nice homes on decent sized lots. Woodmont is also very nice. It is a hard choice but pick the area that suits you best. Good luck, Jay

Both areas are very nice, but Woodmont offers beautiful views of the LI Sound (gorgeous year round for walking), beautiful beaches, the Robert Treat farm, easy access to shopping and I-95, and a very friendly community.

Neighborhoods Differ
Milford is a wonderfully economically diverse community and deciding on the area you will live in really has to be a personal choice. There are huge differences in neighborhood "flavors", including the friendliness of neighbors, their level of education and/or cultural experience, their ideas on community...the school system was basically run by a man who believed that each neighborhood should determine their own level of education, so that the schools have grown up completely differently (a good idea, but a terrible outcome for the most part).
If you plan to have children or have them already, it is of utmost importance to walk into the schools that will educate your children. Money is poured into Mathewson Elementary and Harborside Middle Schools while the other elementary schools and middle schools look as though they could fall down any day now. That is not to say there are no other schools with quality education, but the experiences and exposure at each school is most certainly very different.
Although I believe the enrichment education program for gifted students often gets intelligence and affluence confused, the program provides opportunities for students and Harborside has an overwhelming majority of the enrichment students (72 vs. 12 at East Shore and 8 at West Shore, the last time I checked).
If music is important to you, West Shore's Middle School music program is by far the best in the city. Their band actually wins awards. East Shore's music department is so horrible, you want to put your fingers in your ears at the concerts and pray that your head does not explode.
If you are concerned about retaining home value, the market is adjusting right now (which makes this a great time to buy) and every section of Milford is loved by the people who inhabit them...in fact, many children buy homes in their old neighborhoods when they grow up and would not move out of their neighborhood and into another Milford neighborhood for anything (this includes the Devon section - I only mention Devon because it was mentioned as less desirable). So home values in all neighborhoods tend to move up steadily and consistently.
Good luck and welcome to the neighborhood!
