Hi,
You can't even compare Bridgeport to Norwalk. Norwalk has some areas that aren't that safe, but overall it's a nice, safe town, which I can't say about Bridgeport. As someone wrote before, it's an old industrial city with lot's of crime, drugs, and people who you wouldn't want to have as your neighbours.

well,, my two cents is this...West Haven is a great town for Singles!! and it's very affordable. When i was asking the same question you were, W. Haven is easy access to anywhere you want to go, it's close to everything you could possible need, and the advice i got is to live between the beach and Main St. once you cross over Main St, it's questionable. I go back and forth from Norwalk to West Haven..5 days/week ya,,it's like a 45 min drive, I look at it as unwinding time...Rush hour can be tricky, but once you learn the traffic, it's really not bad.... Bridgeport is right in the middle of the two so like 20 min from either way. Good Luck.

If you are going to school in Bridgeport you might want to consider renting in Stratford, it is one town over from Bridgeport. The rents are similiar but it has safer neighborhoods. It is convenient to the highways and everything is close by.

Wow, I didn't realize I would get blasted for saying "I don't know of any safe areas in Norwalk". I didn't say there weren't any! I grew up in Fairfield and felt the same way about Bridgeport, even Blackrock as many of the posters here. After moving in with friend's when I moved back from Boston, I really decided I liked Blackrock. Sorry for stating my opinion. It won't happen again.

JennCandi,

Don't sweat it. I worked with a Buyer Client a few years back that equated Norwalk to Bridgeport. Perceptions are hard to change. In his case, I couldn't. Was he right? REALTORS® aren't allowed to say. All we can do is have folks reference various web sites and accept their conclusions.

Au contraire!!! The best and most addictive thing about these boards is yours and everybody else's opinion. I have no intention of moving to Iowa or Idaho, but I love to check out the posts everywhere just to see what's what.

Opine away.

I worked in NYC for years...Norwalk is the only place I have ever been mugged in...but I'll still take it over Blackrock.

Default apartment hunting

I am thinking about relocating to Black Rock, CT or near there, if you can give me some information on your condos or apartments.

Thank you
