Question MOrning Public Parking at Greenwich Station

I am moving to greenwich and my wife needs to be able to park at the station, we won't get the residents parking immediately as there is a waiting list and they are only allocated annually.

She will need to park the car around 7:00am and on some days 7:45am. Does anyone know if there will be any public parking left at that time? We checked it out today and there is metered parking behind the station in a lot, for a quarter per hour for up to 12 hours but I suppose that this will get taken fairly early in the day.

If we have no parking she will have to walk a few miles and she is expecting a child in January and she has a short walk at the other end of the train ride into manhattan.

Anyone with any experience of this - please help.

No worries. Greenwich is one of the few stations along the New Haven line where I never worry about finding a spot, no matter the time of day.

However, in the summer, they set aside some of the metered parking spaces for Island Beach day trippers. Which means if you get your Greenwich beach sticker, park in one of those. Still, I don't see there being a problem at all at 7.00 am, if you are talking about the huge parking lot that backs up to the I-95 ramp.

And a quarter for an hour is a great rate. Just make sure you have quarters.

Thanks Sam, I thought it was too good to be true but for a change it is not.

I'm considering moving to Greenwich and am concerned about the same thing. Is it really, truly no trouble to find public parking? Any idea how many minutes the walk would be from public parking to the train station?
Is there a bus or carpool system for Manhattan commuters who live in the Greenwich suburbs?
Also, does anyone know if there is a lot commuter traffic during rush hours? How about ice and snow on the roads the winter?
If anyone has info to share, I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

Have many colleagues who drive from Greenwich to Midtown daily and laugh about inefficiencies and gruesome/unsafe conditions of mass transit

Many senior execs prefer to arrive in Manhattan by ~6AM, to both avoid hassles and delays of sloppy drivers/traffic once lazier crowd awakes...and to get jump on day before US financial mkts start....and use Bluetooth on drive to catch up w/London mkts in AM and return CA calls in PM drive

~45min drive in AM; ~60min drive in PM (leaving Midtown ~7PM)...winter roads are a non-issue for anyone who's a skilled driver w/a suitably safe commuter car w/proper winter tires, e.g., C300/S550 4Matic

Many also like notion of not dealing w/hassles of weather, heat/humidity or rain or cold/slush...esp when departing from own garage in Greenwich and arriving at an underground garage in Manhattan, e.g., 9 W57....a much shorter, more civilized and productive door-to-door commute than any multi-modal mass transit approach

Thanks. It sounds like whichever way one goes, it's better to get an early start. I actually prefer the train to driving because I can use the time on the train to get work done.
I am still curious about public parking for the train in Greenwich. How easy is it to find a space? How much will traffic around the station/parking delay me? How far is the walk from parking to station?
