Novembers here now are far more pleasant then in the past--

early November now can be downright balmy- even last Thanksgiving with temps in the low to mid 50s was easy to take- but after November comes......
and the next 3 months can be not so pleasant at times.

Ahh, another Cali transplant who thought the 90-days of winter was the “whole climate” of the East Coast.

With the exception of a few weeks ago - so far it’s been “cool and dry”…. wait till that tropical moisture really starts pumping out of that Bermuda High…..the air over San Salvador Island in the Bahamas gets pumped over Connecticut and the East Coast with little or no change temp or humidity. Like the old-timers in Charleston and Savannah say….”It’s porch weather”.

Misquotes? Any location that has tropical humid summers (and of course tropical climates) has always had the great battle between humans and insect. Did you know that from the 1800 to 1915, people from Connecticut south to Florida contacted malaria from misquotes? As late as 1946, there where cases of malaria as far north as southern New Jersey.

Heat, humidity, insects, sunburn, thunderstorms, poison-ivy, hurricanes, West Nile virus, torrential ran, snake bites…..welcome to the East Coast in summer

You forgot to mention Lyme Disease from ticks.

I don't think snakes are a problem here in Ct., though. And of course sunburn would be a risk anywhere you go.

Only 2 poisonous snakes in the state- the Eastern Timber rattler- who has a small range from Glastonbury south to about Long Island sound along the CT river-especially along rock outcroppings- they are timid and try avoid confrontations with humans.

Also the Copper head- seen in heavily wooded swamps- a bite from a rattler- rare here will require a trip to the hospital.

Yes Ticks- and the poison ivy is becoming toxic, robust and virulent- why is it thriving? It loves an atmosphere heavy with Co2.

Try to think of the mosquitoes as being a flock of very tiny birds. :-)

If you think the humidity in CT is bad you should try living in the South or the Midwest!

November high in the 50's????? And that is a good thing? Doesn't the suicide rate go up dramatically with anything under 60? And you are probably looking at lows in the 20's. Um yeah....California is looking pretty good.

I love water skiing, boating, and swimming. Phx high of 110 is a dream come true. And when we have 110 our low is in the 70's, so even throughout the summer we have cool early morning temps if you are into that. And a 2 hour drive away you are at 9000 feet elevation where the high is 80 all summer. Our Novembers are in the 70s and 80s and no I won't be water skiing then so that is a little depressing...but I get over it

Not to hijack your thread or anything.

Our New England climate related suicide rate is reduced when the four seasons become spectacular- right Skytrekker?-
The fall is pumpkins, golds, reds and often spectacular foliage coupled with clear blue skies. Of course, when it's a full harvest moon, everyone comes out and howls, especially the Wiccans and the vampires.
Springs are riots of color and flowers..... and there is nothing like a fresh new snow if accompanied by clear blue skies.
