Just moved here from California
How long does this fricking humidity last? I went for a walk last night at dusk and I thought the fricking mosquitoes were going to eat me alive. Are they always this bad during the Summer?
Please advise....

Oh my-last night was actually pleasant- I turned off my AC- and enjoyed the air! Overnight it became cool----
Ok I understand your feelings- not here to DIS you off- California is very lucky to have low humidity compared to here.
The humidity will become worse in July and the first 2-3 weeks of August- there will be days that will not be fit for human or dog/cat---
There can be periods of 3-5 days of 90-95 degree weather with very sultry levels of humidity. Then we will get relief for a few days.
Hopefully you have AC--- as for the bugs- they are bad- and are likely to increase if its wet- if there are dry periods they are less obnoxious. Buy some kind of effective product that will keep the mosquitoes at bay. They are worse of course dusk to dawn

We have only been in CT a few weeks and i have to agree with Skytrekker that i too thought it was a really nice night last night compared to the humidity when we first arrived, but then again we were expecting alot of humidity when we move here, but it really doesn't bother us that much.
I must say we are loving it here, the sceanery, the people, the old buildings we really llike it, and don't miss CA one bit.

Man you are unhappy now? Wait until November. It might become really clear really quickly why people pay one hell of a premium to live in California.

Actually Novembers here can be pleasant- average high November first is 54, November 30th 46. Not too hard to take- January and February can bring unpleasant weather.

Don't use scented soaps/shampoos or anything of that sort. Sometimes it's better to go without bug spray.

Rocklin, FYI
Connecticut's climate away from the northwest hills is now considered 'humid subtropical'
see my post 'Climate in CT is........'
interesting to say the least- the subtropical zone has shifted this far north.

I don't find Novembers here too bad, although pleasant wouldn't be the word I'd choose. I find it gets cold just too quickly in the fall, and warms up too slowly in the spring. But then again my ideal temp is 80. LOL The summers are definitely humid, though. But generally not too hot.
Another bug repellent to try is Avon Skin-so-soft. It works as well for me as anything with Deet, and it's safer.
