Simsbury Apts under 1K mo?
Hi everyone-
I was wondering if (and I browsed Craigslist already) there are any places that are not dumps that can be rented out there? I was contemplating living in West Hartford where I can get into the 700-950/mo price range yet I do not want more than a 30-min drive to work. I see that other economical towns have been suggested from various posters yet all of them are over a 30-min drive.
Below is a list of some of the rentals I have found. If anyone would share info about the area in terms of safety and accessibility to H-ways for an easier communte to Simsbury that would be very beneficial :O)
Thanks much!

Personally, I wouldn't want to live on Park Rd, for a variety of reasons.
The last one, though, on North Main, is a great location. You'd be right in West Hartford Center, with everything accessible. Terrific spot.
Access to 84 is a bit further than the others, but it's a straight shot down Main to the on-ramp. It's definitely not far, though.

It just occurred to me... Although I don't have a great sense of direction, wouldn't you just avoid the highway altogether, take N. Main to Simsbury Rd., which will take you to Hopmeadow to wherever you need to go in Simsbury?
I looked at those apartments again. The one on Newington/New Britain is not a place I'd want to live. The Oxford one may be good, but it's hit or miss. I'd definitely opt for the N. Main one that's in the Center... I'm big on safety, as well as having stores at my fingertips.
Good luck! Let us know what you decide.

You might want to look into the apartments on Old Canal Way in Simsbury, across from the Hartford Insurance Co. I have some friends that live there. I'm not sure what they pay, but the apartments are pretty big... similar to condos. Nice, quiet area with the exception of a lot of kids who always seem to be outside playing.
There are a few other apartment complexes along Hopmeadow St.

Try the "Yankee Flyer"
There are advertisements for apartment rentals listed in the Yankee Flyer weekly circular. I have attached the link below. You can use the search feature and chose "Rentals" to see the listings.
Also, you should consider exapanding your search into Granby. Granby is next to Simsbury and the parts of town close to Rt 10 would be very commutable to Simsbury. Also Canton, particularly the Collinsville, area has some condo/apartment rentals. East Granbyand parts of Windsor and Bloomfield may also be options.
None of these towns have the big, modern apartment complexes that you typically see in other cities/states, so rentals are going to most likely be part of multi-family or a condo rental or in an older complex.
A previous poster refered to the apartments across from the Hartford Insurance Company, I beleive these are rented by Fish Enterprises, they seem to have several older rental communities in Simsbury, so they may be worth a try. I don't have their number, but you may find it listed in one of the advertisemets in the Yankee Flyer or you can try directory assistance.
Good Luck!
