Of course. NW CT has some of the most charming towns in the country IMO. The Litchfield Hills isn't yet a victim of mcmansion subdivisions with strip malls and restaurants. There are also not many jobs up there, and with the current price of gas, people don't really want to commute.

I just got back from a drive up US 7 to Cannan, back on US44 to 8 south through Litchfield and home. It was a a beautiful drive and we will go back and make stops at some of the towns we thought were neat.

The NW was my stomping grounds growing up in Waterbury and at times being in Eastern CT, I do miss bombing around RT4, 128, 7, 63, 112, 341 etc.

Most folks don't think or realize that Waterbury has some of the nicest suburbs in the country...too bad the city can't get some momentum going and become a "job hub" for that area.

Litchfield center is just 11-12 miles from DT Waterbury...Southbury just 11 miles...woodbury 11 miles...Warren 20 miles...Bantam 14 miles......Newtown 18 miles...Cheshire 10 miles...etc

Maybe someday - there are some good things starting to happen there.

Ya, I'm here to- in Winsted.
I actually used to live in central CT in naugatuck, waterbury and watertown, but i found myself here because housing was alot cheaper with bigger yards for dogs and kids and a little less of the hectic life of fighting traffic and worrying about having my car robbed at night .
I am glad i moved here- schools are small, crime is low and theres tons of woods, forests, rivers and lakes close by!!
Hey its not for everyone because there is definately NO night life - but im all grown out of that sorta thing .... So this works for me !!!
It is one of the most beautifull areas of the state in my opinion.
What bugs me is that we are so economically depressed, I wished our cities would do more to attract people and jobs to the area- with all of the unused industrial space and industrial parks , and such beautifull scenery - we deserve more visitors and more permanat buisnesses.

I pretty much grew up in Taconic, which is the Northwest corner of Salisbury. There was plenty of night life from Stockbridge to Lakeville.Mostly on weekends.Days on the lake were the best times of my life. There are many people who can live anywhere in the world who choose the northwest corner of Ct.
