A real estate agent isn't going to tell you where to buy or not buy a house. They will show you neighborhoods you are interested in. Anyone who does otherwise could potentially lose their license. There is also little thing called private school too...

Well, I wouldn't necessarily call private school a "little thing", though. A good, non-Catholic private school is many thousands of dollars a year. A Catholic school is cheaper, but still expensive all the same. We lived in Norwalk for several years, and the high taxes and poor schools were among the many reasons we moved. However, the OP does not have children, so schools are not an issue at this time. But I would agree that it doesn't hurt to mention that private schools might be something the OP would want to consider some day.

well, i guess we are used to paying crazy child care bills so when our kids head of to catholic school we'll actually be saving money!

Bpt's mill rate is one of the highest in CT.

Bpt is an iffy city with lots of problems. Paying high property taxes and then paying to send your kids to private school is a bad deal.

In your opinion and I'm not saying that bridgeport doesn't have its problems, but property values are less in brideport so taxes won't neccessarily be higher than in the surrounding towns. Also, while private school is expensive, if you decide on something like a catholic school education, what you pay for housing in BDPT will cost you less than a house in a surrounding town so I'm not sure how thats a bad deal.
