not really. If you use white plains, i suggest driving to White Plains metro north station. The white plains metro north station is served by the airport shuttle, which can get you to the airport fairly quickly. Taking the train would be difficult b/c the New Haven line of MNRR does not serve White Plains and the only way to reach White Plains would be on the Harlem line of MNRR (i believe). To do so would mean riding to Grand Central and then coming back out on the Harlem line. Unless someone knows a different alternative...

If going into White Plains your best bet would be to rent a car. There are no direct trains as you'd have to backtrack to and from GC.

Fly out of Bradley, it would be the best option in terms of travel time and convience.
Hartford offers more flights than HPN and is probably about the same drive time.
I fly into JFK only because I like Jetblue and fly non stop out of Phoenix. However the travel back to Connecticut is a pain.
I have to take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station and than catch Long Island railroad to Penn Station. From Penn I can take Amtrak to New Haven, however sometimes it can be expensive, as much as $50 each way. Another option is to take the subway to Grand Central and take metro north to New Haven. While this is cheaper it is much longer and more involved with getting to the final destination.

I have to disagree regarding convenience. White Plains is the most convenient airport I've been to in terms of checking in and flight delays. The only more convenient airports I've been to are Stewart in Newburgh, and Sarasota, FL.

Yeah, but flying out west isn't the best option out of White Plains. BDL, although the airport is losing non stops left and right because of fuel costs still hasa a lot more options with multiple connections in cities like Chicago, Las Vegas, Dallas, St. Louis, Phoenix ect...
Hartford to Chicago alone has over 12 non stops to choose from.
White Plains is great for Florida travel.

Car to check in, that is still over a 2 hour trip. I have done it, while it isn't bad, its not the best option. Plus you are looking at least $40 each way for a ticket.
