I read this online today. This store is included in the 600 stores Starbucks is closing nationwide.
I visited this Starbucks twice--and it is located in a pretty sketchy area. It is in a new shopping center with a CVS and other vacant shops. I was thinking that Starbucks ventured into this 'hood earlier than they normally do...but this was also obviously a big thing to the neighborhood in terms of gentrification start-up. Bad news, I think. But maybe a local coffee shop could pop up now in the area? |

The Starbucks in the Upscale Evergreen Walk in South Windsor is also closing.

There is one also closing in Fairfield that is located a block from the new train station. Of course that station will not open for a few years but it seems a bit short sighted. Considering how many Starbucks we have in the state, not too bad that so few are closing. Jay

Do the starbucks closings include the one's they have inside of Target stores. I hope not as I love the idea of getting a coffee while shopping.

Starbucks opened too many stores too quickly. Sign of the times...

Yeah, I absolutely agree. That's what happened. I've loved Starbucks ever since I went to my first one back in the mid-90's...I think it was in Tucson, AZ. I remember when only big and/or wealthier neighborhoods and towns only had Starbucks....in the past 4 or 5 years, they have started popping up at truckstops, interstate exits, and almost in any city with people who wanted coffee...too fast, too soon...they need to stick with their niche and these closings were a good thing.

Boston Chicken/Market, Krispy Kreme, and many others have expanded too quickly. I'm just waiting for the sh*t to hit the fan for Dunkin' Donuts, Subway, and CVS. If you like any of them kid, you'll never lack for one in this area. LOL.Last edited by Stratford, Ct. Resident; 07-24-2008 at 11:36 AM. Reason: Forgot one |

No one in the place and, yes, a very sketchy location. Location is everything - I was in Starbucks last Saturday morning, in West Hartford, and the place was jumping. The market drives these decisions, inevitably.
