Well, I live in Norwalk and plan on moving to Virginia next year. That should be quite a change.

Do you want to stay in the Norwalk area? Or even Connecticut? It also depends on what kind of climate you want and how much you can afford.
If you'd like to stay in CT, the New Haven area is great (Milford, Orange, Hamden, North Haven, New Haven, etc). The Hartford area has a lot too, and is much cheaper than Norwalk.
If you're looking to move out of the state, Boston is fun as is NYC if you can afford it. DC is a great area as well but again, can get pricey.
If you give us more details we can probably make more suggestions.

Why exactly do you not like Norwalk? As kidyankee says, if he have more details we will try to help you find somewhere more suited to your tastes.

Hi all, I'm not in love with norwalk at all. I would like to cash out and try some place else is the way i'm feeling lately. I have familly in fairfield, and I like it there, but I don't know if moving there will quench my desire to see a totally new place. I'm single now, no kids, and the only thing holding me back is finding a better place to move to.
I'm sort of burnt on the North East. Born and raised in Nyc, then Ct. I would like to sell my home, move to a less expensive area, and live like a gentlemen without the psychosis of the tri state area. I'm not sure if it's south or west? but I love motorsports, fishing, and a safe area . Any ideas are appreciated.

I'd throw out Northeast Tennessee. Have you considered the south? I'm originally from TN--Northeast TN. HUGE fishing area, NASCAR racing is big, and it's super safe. Very outdoors-oriented area. The tri-cities area is bigtime cheap, compared to Fairfield County. You could buy a brand-new, 3,000 sq ft, brick, 4 bedroom, 3 bath home for about $250,000 (maybe less). Lakes, mountains, mild 4 seasons, and more relaxed living await...Good luck.

Seems like "Sono" (lol..) is being hampered by landlords who place a high value on a ghetto. I was down there last week and was pretty shocked at all the empty space down there. Seems like the late 90s was a good time there...but like most of Fairfield County, the overinflated pricetag to live in a congested part of Suburban NY seems to be wearing thin on many people.

There are quite a few empty storefronts. I was there about 2 wks ago. I was surprised. But, things are getting better and continue to gentrify, in the area. Right along I-95, a live-work-play area of highrises is under construction. That will add residents and people to the area. The heart of SoNo needs more residential condos and apartments. That would increase demand for stores.

I agree for the most part. That's why people have been moving 'up the line' to eastern FFLD County and western New Haven County. The lower Valley area (Oxford, Shelton, etc) is booming, as is Milford.

Can I get a hell yeah??? The Ghetto is a just a block away . It's definetly not SOHO in NYC. The rents are out of control, and it's just a front for a one block facade district that wishes it was actually worth the bucks. But it's not and probably never will be until all the riff raff is gone. But everyone knows that norwalk is loaded with just that.
