Okay fair enough...I guess when you deal with chemicals, PH balance, bacterial growth etc and remidiation of said things you can forget it can be a bit confusing.

Salt is Sodium Chloride. Key word, Chloride. Guess what chloride is? Just chlorine with an extra negatively charged electron to form an anion.

Very similar stuff in many regards. Salt has similar properties as Chlroine from a sanitizing standpoint without as much "harshness" as Chlorine. But I believe it's more corrosive.

As another poster mentioned, check the breaker. Local code here mandates a breaker within a few feet from the tub. Also check indoor breakers. Once the breakers are onm the tub should run. Check the filters and rinse. If you move forward and decide tokeep it, get new filters. Like I mentioned before, spadeot website has great prices. The best chemical for ongoing maintainence is di-chlor.

With the nice weather later yesterday, dh took apart the hot tub and found a blown fuse. $8 and a trip to Radio Shack later, the hot tub works!!! We're going to buy the chemicals kit today and hope to use it tomorrow.
