Just because the Newtown/Monroe/Trumbull area is more expensive does not mean it is a better place to live. It just means that they are located closer to higher paying jobs so people have more money to spend on housing which raises prices.

Avon, Simsbury and Farmington have excellent schools which are among the best in the state. I believe Simsbury High is No.1 or 2 (right behind Staples in Westport). So I do not think that anyone could say Newtown/Monroe/Trumbull is better. In fact, I agree with Andthentherewere3, if I did not have to commute into Hartford, I would prefer the Farmington Valley over Newtown/Monroe/Trumbull. Then again if it were commuting to Stamford verses commuting to Hartford, I would defintiely pick living in the Farmington Valley. JMHO, Jay
