I think Skytrekker lives in a converted styrofoam cooler that he heats with a light bulb and cools with an ice cube.

Hi, we moved here recently and our first electric bill was $190 and thats a 1600 square foot town home, we have since raised our cool temp from 68 to 78 and we will see if that makes a diferrence when the next bill arrives.
Beware of properties with window A/C units they are more expensive to run than regualr A/C sytems. (information from Connecticut Light & Power website)
if your looking to rent when you get her i would recommend you look at the 'Mansions at Hockanum Crossing' in Vernon, there a little pricey but really nice. A two bedroom 1600 square foot town home is $1645. (thats the most expensive one)
Good Luck and hope you get the job.

I can certainly believe that, it costs us around $300.00 a month to occasionally run 3 window AC's for our 1600 square foot home. The rest of the year our electricity runs under $200.00 a month. Of course that doesn't include heat, we have oil heat. This year at the current rate of heating oil it will cost us $600.00- $700.00 a month to heat our house.

My electric bill was just under $703 for 34 days. (I don't have electric heat.)

Holy moly yikes Rich
what the hell- I got my bill yesterday for July- Connecticut Light & Power-- 2 levels here; vaulted ceilings; with the central air running about one third the time- an end unit with large windows facing west in the afternoon- water heater is electric; dryer as well-- my bill was $127.65---- I guess I am doing something right.
I wash once a day- mostly cold water- hot to warm three times a week- use the dishwasher about 3 times a week. I heat with Yankee Natural gas- my highest bill last winter was for January-$131.00 I keep it set at 63 at night or when I go out in the day- and when home 68.
I have to ask do you run a business there>?

Rich- are you paying for your entire neighborhood!?!
My husband and I get bills that are $70-80 a month. We don't use A/C at all, so that's a huge saver. But apparently we don't use much else either, compared to other people's numbers reported here. Our hot water is gas, but we still use the clothes washer and dryer, fridge, tv, lights, etc. Huh, I guess I should just consider us lucky.

Hey Jay
I do not think CL & P would be that dumb- I am just careful with my use--
my father taught me to turn off lights, never leave the water running, and take short showers- you know I did learn from his example.
My bill has increased about 30% over 2 years ago- but that seems average.
