Default Not quite accurate....

Pros:
Lots of hunting and fishing
No tornados, wild-fires, mudslides
Funny lingo (i.e wicked, dude, jimmies, <----those are sprinkles)
cost of living is good
richest state in the nation
Houses are good price for the land and space you get (unlike CA where you pay 850,000 and get really nothing)

Not to be too critical, but having lived in this state since 1957 (excepting a brief 6 year absence ), here is my take:

PROs
Lots of Hunting and Fishing -
Not for hunting south of Rte. 15 (too congested on the coast).

Tornadoes:
While not common, they do hit here from time to time. Just look at the damage at Bradley Airport (NW of Hartford) a few years ago, and the recent hail storms a couple of weeks ago which edged on becoming tornadoes.

Wild Fires
Again, not frequent, and usually limited to the hills in the Northwest part of the state during droughts.

Funny Lingo
Only in the far eastern part of the state (near RI)
- Never heard the term "jimmies" used by anyone ... and I go out for Ice Cream a lot.

Housing
Expensive.. PERIOD!
I figure that if I sell our house and move out of state, then I will never be able to afford to return and buy another house here.
As a point of reference, and don't ask me how I know , but there is a "Center Hall Colonial" on a plot 100' x 170' lists for $485,000 on the Grand List in a town in New Haven county (less than Fairfield county).

There was an article in the CT Post newspaper this summer showing specific areas in the state where housing was more "reasonable", but I can assure you that Fairfield county (SW CT) has NONE.

Quote:
Cons:
The winter (the cold is dry and hits your bones, the first snow fall is awesome but after that it is dirty snow and sticks)
The cities are not as bright and colorful as other cities. Most buildings were built a wicked long time ago
The people are rude, but were not fake like other parts of the country.
BUGS
CONs
Winter
Damp and wet snow on the coast thanks to Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. Heavy to shovel (can you say: Coronary?), and turns to ice.
Less snow on the coast
Drier and more snow north of Rte. 15.

Rudeness
You find it now from time to time. However, I am noticing more and more of the ME FIRST mentality showing up both on the road and elsewhere.

More to follow....

Politics
Those of you who have been reading the posts here have probably noticed a difference
in perspective between NEW_ENGLANDAH and coastalrap.

The majority of people in the CT vote Democrat.
The result has been to turn this state into...
The Peoples Socialist Republic of Konnectikut.

Its elected government (DEMOCRAT MAJORITY) seems to constantly be working hard
to imitate Komifornia and Marxachussets. Just watch the entitlement and repressive laws
that they enact in Hartford.

Electricity
The average cost per kWh (September usage)
at my house was: $ 0.2483

Rounded up = $0.25 per kWh !!!

Crime

Hartford is not a place to live. It seems to have shootings happening on a frequent basis its North End.
Bridgeport also has its share and I think rates second to Hartford.
New Haven tags a little behind Bridgeport.
West Hartford has its own problems although they do a good job of hiding it.

Schools
Quality varies all over the place.
AVOID Hartford schools.
- Despite the MASSIVE amounts of MONIES thrown at it by the state, it still is the pits.
The state's school funding formula is unfair and inequitable... at best.

If the majority nutmeggers/huskies wanted somebody else in office, they would vote for that person. Don't you think?

Let me jump in on this point: 90% of the snowfalls in my driveway either start with or end with rain/ice. Sometimes the snow is so wet and heavy my smallish snow thrower can't even move it.

If the ice is the bottom layer, you have to chip it off the car after you get the snow removed.

CT is far from the snowiest place I've ever lived but the snow here can be very annoying!

It's the power of incumbency. Keeps bozos of both parties in office years after they should have found a new profession. Happens everywhere, not just CT.
