Smile Stratford - Lordship Schools

Hi everyone,

I am thrilled to have discovered this site. I would be very grateful and appreciative to hear from anyone who can provide honest answers in regard to schools in the Stratford or Lordship areas. If we consider Lordship, what elementary and middle schools would we be zoned for? Are there any charter schools? I have a 5 yr. old, 7 yr. and 12 yr. The two eldest are coming from a private parochial school (thus one of the reasons why we are moving - can't afford NY anymore.) Also, I've been hearing a great deal about Paradise Green, what are the significant pros/cons over Lordship. And are there other nearby communities we should consider while we are exploring this weekend. Thanks so much. We've only made one visit this past weekend, so any information would be appreciated. Also, would love to hear from any Bronxites who made the move to this area.

Default I'm guessing (due to coastal flooding)your insurance would be higher in Lordship

I'm guessing (due to coastal flooding)your insurance would be higher in Lordship. Elementary school would likely be Stratford Academy/Johnson House 719 Birdseye St.

Paradise Green would likely go to either Eli Whitney 1130 Hungtington Rd or Wilcoxson, 600 Wilcoxson Ave.

Of course Stratford is PBOE (per board of ed). They reserve the right to balance out class sizes etc. by sending kids to where they have room.

Chapel, Eli Whitney, and Wilcoxson have always been the most coveted elementary schools.

Nichols and Second Hill would be in the next tier.

And then the rest.
