For that type of subdivision in your price range - I would suggest the buttonball area (Buttonball and the streets that come off that road). Lots of families there, safe, lots of sidewalks. I would stay off Founders and Buttonball streets just because those streets tend to be a little busier, but its a very family oriented area. You may also want to look in the Lexington Road, Barrington Way area. I know a few homes have sold above the 400K range, but I think your price range is more typical for this area. Its not a huge area of homes (as compared to buttonball), but whats nice is you are adjacent to addision park (there is actually a cut through off barrington way) so very easy for kids to congregate at the park or use the park facilities. Also nice about these two neighborhoods is that you are close to the center of town for shopping and other things. Good luck!

I agree with UConn97 about Buttonball and Barrington/Lexington. Buttonball has older homes with most built in the 1960's but the lot sizes are nice (about 2/3 acre). The homes there have a bit more charm but also tend to have smaller rooms and closets. Buttonball School is very highly regarded, but be aware if you buy away from the core of the neighborhood, your children may be bused down to the Nyaug School in South Glastonbury.

Barrington/Lexington (the subdivision was called Candlewood) has homes built in the 1980's so they are a little large and a little more open with better closet and room sizes. Homes in this area sit on mostly 1/3 acre lots. This area is very convenient to town and the highway and Naubuc School is excellent.

Another area to consider is the Collegetown neighborhood. It is located off Great Swamp Road on streets named after universities (UConn, Wesleyan, Trinty, Oxford, etc.). It is a very nice area with homes mostly built in the late 1960's and 1970's. Lot sizes are about 1/3 acre and the school would also be NAubuc.

I hope this helps. Jay

Default Collegetown

Hi,
I think Jay mentioned the Collegetown neighborhoods. I live on UConn Ave in that part of town. We love it! Great roads, lots of kids, sidewalks, quick run to Addison Park playground and one of the town pools...Naubuc school. Also, it is really convenient to get to downtown Glastonbury or Buckland area of Manchester (both 10 minutes). If you have any specific questions about that part of town, let me know.

also just to add that I think the town has approval to continue a bike/walking path past the middle school so the collegetown neigborhoods can also add this to their list of amenities in that area!
