Is there a Starbucks? Shops? Do people leave the area for Hartford or the surrounding neighboring cities for restaurants, leisure time?

Thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses.
Hello! I didn't have the chance yet to finish reading all the replies, so I apologize if this information has already been shared.

I was born in Norwich and know the city well. I moved away because there really isn't much there! No Starbucks, very few shopping areas -- far too few to support the population.

I'd say the casinos have enhanced the area, however it's been a double-edged sword. Many of the jobs the casino has brought to the area are low-paying, not so good for local residents looking for work!

From what I hear (and from what I saw last time I was there) there's quite a bit of ethnic/cultural diversity now because of the casinos.

Colchester is SO overrated IMO. I find the people (generally speaking) unfriendly, which is quite strange because it could be a great town -- it has a Starbucks!

I'd say Mystic is the best choice... Some nice shops, restaurants, it's scenic, lots of New Yorkers in the summer to liven things up! (Can be crowded though.)

Well, that's my 2 cents!

Best of luck to you!

Last year a NJ development firm purchased the Ponemah Mill building and they planned to start a renovation project to turn the building into luxury rental apartment units.
