the aforementioned 'Yankee' you speak of is fortunately in the smallest minority here. 'They' are very conservative- and most in Connecticut would disagree with 'them' on many issues beyond gay rights.

However because of diversity and the expression of other ideas- the post made which offends you so much, and might be considered unfortunate- IS allowed in a democracy, AND here at CD. Alternative views are welcome- and the poster you have an issue with provides excellent data for newcomers here at CD. Politics aside; The Government powers may be here in Connecticut have chosen progressive views, and have given gay citizens the most liberal laws in the nation for gay/human rights. In spite of the opinions expressed by that 'Yankee'- who has a right to express their opinion- even though he is in the minority here (and whom I disagree with on gay rights and a multitude of other issues) 'They' have an alternative ' philosophy'- oh well no one is perfect; I am sure there are people of similar views in NM. Live and let live. We try and provide information here that is not biased (though that is hard to do sometimes) and not political.

Just don't move here expecting the gay marriage bill to be approved anytime soon. Civil unions, however are currently recognized.

Good luck from a direct speaking yankee.
Much delayed remark here, but the response above is pretty hilarious, especially now with the whole gay marriage thing in place! Remarkable how people don't think twice about putting the little fish symbol on their car and anti-abortion plates, but warn gay people not to put a rainbow flag on their car.

There's a difference between "not to put a rainbow flag on their car" and "putting 1400 rainbow stickers on your car."

The point being - be comfortable in your own skin, that's fine, it's even fine if you tell people you're comfortable in your own skin. But don't shove it in everyone's faces and expect them to not resist the shove.

That goes for EVERYTHING. Being gay, being Jewish, being white, black, an immigrant, a sports fan, disabled, etc. etc. When you don't merely advertise your label, but thrust it at people and demand that they appreciate it, that's when you get trouble around here.
