Strange, but unfortunately, true. This oddity is probably a byproduct of Center School having been closed a few years back.
Some streets have Stratford Academy as their assigned school, but you still have to formally apply for entry into the school. In the interim, you're at the mercy of the BOE. Given your location, i would push for Nichols first, and then Lordship as the 2nd choice while you're waiting for Stratford Academy.

Yeah, it did bother me. The school situation seemed too cloudy around there. They told me that their were already 10 kids on the waiting list for my kindergardener and 2nd grader to go to Stratford Academy. Some kids stay on the waiting list a few years.
They also said if we are not happy w/the school we are assigned we could always request another school but who knows which school they would actually let us go to and buses would not be available.
We moved on, we have 2 other houses in mind right now. We are waiting for a written offer on our house and should make an offer on a house in Milford. If it does not work out, choice #2 is in Stratford, Putney area.

Don't let that situation with Stratford Academy dissuade you from the house in Putney. The school assignments for Putney(Chapel-Flood-Bunnell) have been etched in stone for eons, and will not change anytime in the forseeable future. Good luck with your search.

thank you,
actually we are considering the house in Putney. That is the one we will most likely get as our #1 choice would have to come down quit a bit on the price. It is close to the water which I love, we'll give it a try, never know.
Putney I heard is a very nice area.
We think both choices are good investment and in good school system(as you were noting).
The house we let go of was in the historical district, in Strat Academy district.
we'll see what happens next.....

I don't think you can go wrong, buying a house in Putney. Hope you've worked the property taxes into your annual budget !

Both the taxes for the house in Milford and the one in Stratford a very high.
The good thing w/the one in Milford is that it has a rental, which would cover the taxes but the asking price is a little higher.
Anyway, sill waiting for the offer on our ouse to be written down. That buyer has been driving us crazy. She has been pretty inconsistent w/her offering price.
We keep our fingers crossed, hopefully today that get settled..
