Default rental houses in W. Hartford or Wethersfield?

I've noticed on Craig's list there are virtually no houses for rent in West Hartford. We were thinkng about moving to the area and arent sure if we should buy a starter home or try to rent for awhile (or even find a lease to own option). We want a house because we have young kids and are looking for a family neighborhood. Are there just not many houses for rent in West Hartford, or maybe Wethersfield? Any thoughts on how to go about finding them, if they are there?

thank you!
