Default Questions about Stamford Courthouse

I have a few questions about the Stamford Courthouse (123 Hoyt Street) and maybe someone here can help me. I don't expect one person to know the answer to all of the questions, but if you can answer any of these questions it would be helpful and it will eventually lead to all of the questions being answered. Is the Courthouse in Downtown Stamford? What type of area is it located (upscale, rough etc)? What is in the area (restaurants, shopping etc)? What is the best way to get to get to the courthouse from Merritt Parkway? Is there a metro north station within walking distance to the courthouse? Thanks ahead of time to anyone that responds.

I was hoping one of our Stamford people would answer this one but since they appear to be off today, I will give you what I know. Hoyt street is a safe area from what I know. It is not near the train station, about 1 1/2 miles. To get there from the Merritt, you would get off at either High Ridge (Exit 35 if you are coming from the east) or Long Ridge (Exit 34 if you are coming from the west) and head south to Summer Street. Continue south on Summer to left onto Hoyt. I am not sure what is in the immediate area around the courthouse but a couple of blocks ove on Summer there is a lot. I hope this helps, Jay

Thanks. Like I said the answers will add up if people would just answer what they know. I would greatly appreciate any additional info from anyone familiar with the area.

If you're coming from the south, exit 34. From the north, exit 35. Travel south down Long or High ridge which will become Summer. The courthouse driveway is on North St. The only parking that *i* know of is behind a small strip mall that is at the corner of Hoyt and Bedford. Access to this lot is from Morgan Street. The largest cluster of restaurants are located around the corner in the vicinity of Bedford/Forest/Prospect. The area is safe.

Hoyt is a street bordering my office. The courthouse is in an extremely safe and nice area. It's the northern edge of downtown Stamford. It is across the street from some very nice 1930s and 1940s homes where doctors, lawyers, etc. use to live back in the day. It's about a mile to the train station. Walkable for those used to walking, but not for the faint of heart.

As for shopping, the Stamford Town Center mall is about 3/4 a mile away--with Barnes and Noble, H&M, Saks Fifth Ave, Macy's and tons of other nice stores. Bedford St and downtown's Burlington Coat Factory and Target are close-by downtown, too. To the north, there is Ridgeway Plaza (about 1/2 mile), with Super Stop and Shop, Starbucks, Michael's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Pier 1 Imports, Marshall's, CVS, and lots of other shops. Super convenient.
