Yes, many areas that are obvious like Southwestern CT, Greater NY, Hartford and Charlotte (home to Wachovia) will be suffering, among other areas like in South Dakota (Citi)

Maybe that infusion will quell some of that. However...its likely that instead of using taxpayer dollars, they will simply print more money, which might actually curtail some of those exotic vacations. Our dollar has a rope with a cement block attached to it.

Default Article not accurate?

This article says Hartford, CT will be impacted by potential job losses from the "thousands of jobs" at Bank of America and Merril Lynch??? Huh??? While both organizations may have some jobs in Hartford, I don't think it is any where near "thousands"???

I didn't understand Wethersfield being mentioned in the article either. Why Wethersfield?

Connecticut has had a minor impact regarding the financial meltdown. Fairfield county will have more problems then Hartford.

I'd have to guess that it has a larger share of mid-level employees who work in the Hartford financial sector. Those working stiffs always get the axe before the corporate executives who live in the more upscale towns.

Wethersfield??? It is not exactly the financial capital of the world. I doubt this will be the case. JMHO, Jay

Maybe the insurance companies (that are investment houses indirectly) invested in mortgage-backed securities.

I agree. Even in Darien (where I spent my Sunday), it didn't seem like people were significantly impacted. Actually just being downtown made me wonder if there really is a financial crisis...lol...
