I live the town over and I think Bridgeport is not the best place to live. Violence is very common there in fact, there was just 2 incidents involving guns the other night. I know people that live in Bridgeport and they hate it and wish they can afford to leave, but they can't. Schools are improving though; the city's high schools just started using metal detector wands to help prevent some violence in the high schools. I know many people in all of the city's high schools and the best one is Central High School, particulary the magnet part of the school. Hope I helpled.

OK, I'm sufficiently afraid to move to Bridgeport. No more research into that location.

Default Ha!!

LOL I think you hit the nail on the head yourself about who lives there by your opening line:

Hey Gang,

No.. seriously there are plenty of regular hardworking folk who live in Bridgeport.. but I would go so far as to say that the only reason they live there is they can't afford to be anywhere else. May it eventually one day improve? who knows. Maybe.

i've lived in bpt for 17 years now and SHOCK, HORROR.....i actually like it!! quick get the straight jacket!!

i came from the uk landed in stamford but definately prefer bridgeport. never encountered violence and have lived in the north end, treeland (borders stratford and trumbull) and now live in brooklawn (borders fairfield).

my kids went to park city magnet and now to charter schools. my eldest is going off to med school this summer for a career in pediatrics.

we are actually moving this summer down south to escape the cold and the high taxes.

bpt was once a beautiful city with a beach, amazing shorelines, tons of jobs, vibriant nightlife, great history, etc and is being revitalized and i will be sure to visit.

funny story. i used to work with an older lady who was born and raised in fairfield, she told me growing up she was ashamed to say she lived in fairfield but would say she was from bridgeport. back in her day when bpt had paved roads and running water, the surrounding towns were still using horse and buggy! (so to speak)

Great Story. Where are you moving down South? Might I suggest Savannah? My personal favorite, althought I'm completely biased.

Think of Bridgeport as CT's answer to Baghdad.

It may be a little bit much but when you live it every day...It starts to feel like you are fighting a war.

I've lived it all my life, but maybe the neighborhood I was in for the last 12 years or so was a lot better than where I grew up. Maybe I have battlescars

Which is probably why i'm moving to AZ as well
