Default Windsor/Bloomfield area good?

Hey everyone - my boyfriend and I are looking for houses and one spot that is both convenient and affordable is Windsor. There are a few homes we'd like to look at off of Park Ave, near the John F. Kennedy school, near the Bloomfield line. I've never really been over that way, can anyone tell me if it's a decent area to live in? Good neighborhood? Low crime? etc.

Thanks!!

Windsor overall is a nice town, I would say the Poquonock section of town is the best. The part over towards park ave near the bloomfield line is a bit more run down. The houses may or may not be kept up as nice. Overall the schools are decent. It does have great access to highways etc.

It is a very good town to live in if you're looking for diversity as their is a very large African American population their as well as quite a few hispanic homes. So it is nice in that respects as well.
Low crime? I suppose so. I never heard of anything too big going on in Windsor as I lived in a surrounding town. I suppose the only problem would be drugs, but you will find that anywhere even in the most high end towns.

But driving around and getting to know the area would be the best advice i could give you. Seeing the homes and the neighborhoods their will give you a better idea of what you're looking for.

But overall I would say Windsor is a good town to live in, it is affordable and has great highways access and the crime is definitely pretty low. I'd feel safe their!!

Also I'd have to throw in if you DO have children I'd definitely pick Windsor over Bloomfield as their schools rank low.

I don't think crime or safety would be an issue here. Generally the southernmost parts of these towns are the places I would be more discreet, and where you're looking at is more in the middle of the town. This is a decent area. You might not find Windsor a very exciting town, but that might not even be an issue. If so, downtown Hartford is a short drive away.
