Click on the town on the left hand side. You'll have to zoom into the map because it's pretty small to view normally.

I don't know about Westbrook but I was on RT 1 in West Haven driving about 4 miles to Milford and you would have thought it was the day after Thanksgiving. It took me 20 minutes to drive less than 4 miles. I gave up on continuing on to my destination as it was just too crowded.

Of course on that road there were two Circuit Cities, a Linens and Things and a couple of furniture businesses going out of business with sign holders standing on the corners.

That stretch of Route 1 is one of the busiest in the state. It has many many stores and lots of shoppers which is why it took so long to drive it. Has little to do with the store closings. Jay

Hi Jay,

Actually I usually drive this stretch on a regular basis. Last weekend was extraordinarily busy. I don't know if the store closing had anything to do with it or not. It could have been that it was a drizzly, gloomy day and people just needed to get out of the house.

I hope that they are out there supporting the economy. Lord knows we need some kind of consumer infusion to turn the Titanic.
