Connecticut towns: presidential electoral map, 2004-2008
This reveals some of the political lines in Connecticut. If you believe that how people vote in a presidential election says something about their town, you can learn something from this. It also shows whether towns changed their party preference from 2004 to 2008.

For one thing, I never realized Madison was Republican enough to vote for Bush in 2004. Shows you how politically aware I am

Explains why my kids were the only ones in their classes for Obama - they go to school in Harwinton. Thanks for the map!

I saw this in today's Hartford Courant. Seeing the town-by-town vote really shows that people aren't voting along economic lines as evidence by Fairfield County.
Two other points were interesting: the state houses in Rhode Island (12 Republicans out of 75) and Massachusetts (17 Republicans out of 160) and rebuilding the Republican party in (abandon the trinity of 'God, Guns, and Gays') to be competitive in New England.

I'm glad it came out. Now I know what towns to look into for our next move, I'm proud of the few towns those are.

Wow, I live in quite the Republican pocket of CT there! That explains all the McCain signs. It probably also explains why our schools have no paper, textbooks that are almost 30 years old, and bricks falling on kids' heads...nobody wants their taxes raised even if it means improving education.

I find that funny because the majority of the time, the deepest "blue" areas in the nation, seem to have the greatest gap between rich and poor where the "red" areas generally have less of a social economic gap. Go figure.
CT would be one of those "areas". We have the richest towns in the nation and the poorest cities in the nation all in this small place. All those CT liberals must really be "looking out" for the poor folks from their million dollar homes. I guess they feel better just talking about it then actually doing something about it.

You're lucky! We had a great voter turnout for the election but generally for local referendums it stinks so our kids suffer.
