GRAVEYARD_NURSE is on a distinguished road
Default Enfield or Somers Area Neighborhoods???

Hello I currently live in Killingly, CT...my husband works in Enfield at the Prison, I am a nurse, we have 1 child. We are considering making the move out closer to his work...since I can work anywhere. What are the best neighborhoods in SOMERS or ENFIELD
these towns...best schools etc. I have been searching online and it is kind of tough to find specifics...I have found things in real estate listings saying "desirable southern enfield" or "desirable presidential section"
I would like to have a home with a bit of land...preferably 1/2acre or more....but that would be negotiable I just don't want my house on top of the neighbors... I also have noticed many of the houses in these areas have pools... What are the things I should be looking for in these areas. Any advice on these towns would be great.
thanks
melinda

I live on Webster Rd which is in Enfield 2 seconds from the Somers line. It is a very nice/quiet neighborhood. We have a very nice sized back yard where we have built a **** cage for our dogs, we also set up horseshoe pits, a BBQ Pit, a shed, a garden, plus we have a full deck on the back porch and still have empty space to use in the yard itself, not to mention our front yard is actually quite nice as well. Our house is approx 1300 sq ft and was purchased a year and a half ago for 185k. It will take about 7-8 minutes to get to 91 from where I live and there is plenty to do in enfield, otherwise you are squished between springfield and hartford which can offer anything that you can't get in enfield or manchester. Our neighbors are very friendly and helpful, as me and my 2 roomates are all in our mid-twenties, my roomate who bought the house was starting from scratch, aka missing some yardwork tools and whatnot that are sometimes needed, and our neighbors were there to lend a helping hand and let us borrow things or just chat while doing yardwork and whatnot. I prefer living on the somers line, rather than in the bulk of enfield off of route 5 where some of my friends and coworkers live. They have smaller yards and their houses seem closer together. We have a decent amount of space on every side of our house.

I love Somers! quiet & more desireable than
congested Enfield.
Both towns are easy drives to the prison.

Even the town of Ellington is driving distance to
the prison too.

Good luck!

Default Enfield

We have an antique restoration business here in Enfield just a stones throw from the prison. I agree with the others. Somers is much less congested as is Ellington. Ellington has gone through tremendous growth in the past couple of years. There are also the outskirts of Stafford. In Enfield, you should skip over the Thompsonville area. A good majority of our friends and customers have moved from Enfield to Somers and Ellington within the last couple years. They still do most of their grocery shopping and clothes shopping here but enjoy the quiet of Somers/Ellington. Perhaps if you use google earth, you will get an idea of what areas are a little more congested than others. Good luck!

I live in Somers, but would not recommend it. I think the school system is not up to par. I would suggest Ellington based on what I have seen of their recent test scores. There is a mix of people in Somers. I would say that it attracts a strange breed of character. I would also consider Longmeadow Massachusetts. They have a great recreation department as well as fantastic schools.

Somers has better schools and is overall nicer by appearance.

The section in Enfield to AVOID is Thompsonville. All the others are okay though.
