Full Time job in CT
I'm currently living in FL and I hate it. I used to live in Trumbull,CT, until I moved here aug 07. I'm 21 yrs old and need to find a full time job in CT so I can move back- somehow.. I'm very desperate to get back up north. Does anyone know of some places that are hiring full time??? Anywhere from New Haven to Fairfield... So milford, new haven, bridgeport, shelton, trumbull, etc.

Check the Connecticut Post for job listings. Like most of the country though, we are in tough economic times, but there are jobs around. What do you do? Jay

or ctjobs.com which searches all local papers in CT.
But I agree that jobs are harder to come by...
What field is it you are looking into?

i'm not really being picky-i don't do anything specific, but i do have my certificate to be a vet assistant. meanwhile, i'm a hostess at a restaurant.
i've checked a lot of websites. hotjobs, ctjobs, monster, indeed, snagajob. maybe just looking for a part time job for now will be my best bet.

I’ve been trying to find work in CT for over a year now with no luck (living in Florida). I've seen the IT jobs dwindle down in the CT classifieds to almost nothing in the last 4-6 months.
We are coming up for vacation for X-Mas and New Years and I plan on hitting up the temp agencies once there. It seems like most prospective jobs don't really seem too interested when they hear your living so far away. I can't tell you how many times I hear the old, "Give us a call if you can make it up here".
I keep hearing from family and freinds up there how bad it is there now and how much things have changed over the last few years in some areas. I'm to the point now that if I can't find any promising leads when we are up there for vacation then I'm going to give it a rest for a while and just be happy for the good job I do have down here.
It just seems like things are not going to get better anytime soon.

Yeah, I'm getting so many mixed reviews from friends and family. I'm still young and feel like I should give it a shot. Some people say to take a vacation- like you, and apply to places, some say wait find a job then move, but a lot of other people are saying just do it and move. Find a part time, temp job.
I'm thinking about taking the plunge- moving and then applying for part time jobs, maybe something full time will pop up.

Will you have family to stay with in CT? If so, I would just take the plunge and move back.
I wish I could but I have a pregnant wife and 2 little ones at home so I have to make sure I have a good job lined up first.
Where about in Florida are you living? What is it you don't like about it?

My older brother lives in CT still- he just moved in with his gf- so i'm not going to intrude on that. But, I do have friends up there that are willing to be my roommate.
I live in Palm Coast, FL about 20/25 mins away from Daytona Beach. Palm Coast is a small town with a lot of senior citizens. They're trying to develop it into a young hip town i guess, but I'm not feeling it. The people are so different and I'm sorry if this offends some people, but I think more rude as well. Also, to get to places is just a ridiculous drive, so I don't really go out.

I can understand about that area. In fact one of my father in laws old neighbors (from Watertown), bought a house in Palm Coast. He is in his seventies.
If you are unable to make it back to CT, then you might consider one of the bigger metro areas. I hear JAX has some nice areas and that the job market is not as bad as most in Florida. There are also a lot of younger people there. Also Orlando area (Winter Park, Thornton Park, Longwood), are some nice trendy areas that may fare a little better on the job scene or at least be closer to where more jobs are within the Orlando area.
