sreezie901 is on a distinguished road
West Hartford is definitely more diverse than other similar-range Hartford-area suburbs. Hall H.S. is typically regarded as one of the best in the area, if not the best.

njohnson will become famous soon enough
My girlfriend attended St. Joseph's for education for her bachelors and Uconn for her masters and loved both. She also lived in West Hartford in a nice unit west of Elizabeth Park and highly recommends the area.

The only big downside I see to West Hartford (other than it bordering some rough areas of Hartford) is the incredibly high taxes for a city that is somewhat affluent. It has a similar tax rate as low income cities such as Waterbury, Meriden, and New Britain. If you are renting however you may not care about this.

The schooling is excellent and you have pretty much everything you need at your fingertips.
