John Gagnon's place is the best place in my opinion. The canine holiday Inn in Manchester isn't too bad, But Gagnon's would be my first choice.

Uberdog is supposed to be nice, and it isn't far from Planet Bark, if you're wanting to be in that area.

Yes, I hear that new place is pretty good as well. I just prefer Planet Bark because it is an established business in town.

For what it's worth...I hate "boarding" dogs. Thats like leaving your kid at a boarding place.. Dogs are comfortable with similar enviroments...not with other barking dogs and strangers everyday. not to mention the smells of other dogs inside the place. Some dogs become depressed after leaving them there because they felt abandoned. Most dogs hate it but can't tell you that.

I don't own a dog business but always offer to help others out. I'll be willing to watch your dog at my house. They'll have a yard to play in, my love to feel comfortable and a house to stay protected in. There won't be a gap after you leae meaning I'll shower them with love, playtime, & mind activities. They'll always be occupied they'll forget you even dropped them off.

I'm with my Luna 24/7 also so you dont have to explain "attached" to me. I treat my dog better than any human. They are truely the best. Send me a direct message and we'll chat.

I know this message wasn't directed to me, but to the OP, but I just want to say:

YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!

I actually researched boarding facilities and chose John Gagnon's but... then I backed out. I couldn't stand the thought of putting my little guy in a boarding facility while I was away (I ended up finding a friend of a friend to stay at my house with him).

I'm with Artie 24/7 like you're with Luna and I understand "attached" like you do. (Some people think that I'm unnaturally attached to him; I don't -- he's family to me.)

Anyway, I just wanted to express what an amazing offer you've made to the OP. You've got a wonderful heart.

Thanks DandJ. Gave you a member mark for that. And there's nothing we can say to people who dont own dogs or never have. They will never understand. I'm the same way with kids....I love them, they're so innocent and need our love but it's the parents I can't stand most of the time. LOL

I agree with DandJ that pets are MUCH happier if they are allowed to stay in their own homes.
My wife and I do house-sitting with this in mind.
Not only is the house secure but the plants are watered and the pets are fed, walked, and cared for.
Hope this helps some-one in need.
Ricky

Oh Ricky, I've got questions for you in that case, in circumstances where my usual pet-sitter is not available:

- How much time do you spend at home with the dog? Meaning, do you sleep at my house with him? Do you spend the days with him? Etc... Artie is used to 24/7 love, which doesn't mean that an errand can't be run or a dinner can't be had out, but it means that I'm home more often than not. (Yes, I dote on him.)

- What areas do you cover? (I'm in West Hartford.)

- How much do you charge per day/night? If I leave on a Saturday morning and return on Sunday evening, how much would that run me?

- Is this your business, or something you do on the side?

Thanks,
Dawn

Sorry, Jay. Right after I pressed the Submit button, I thought "Hmmmm. I don't think I should have done that."
