New Haven metro-north train question
What is the safest best way to travel from this station? I need to get to west haven, which is only 2 miles away, but have heard it is dangerous? Are there taxis available? Bus line? thanks.

Walking would be long and difficult since there are a number of turns you would have to make. The best would be taking a cab or bus. Both are available from Union Station. Check the CT Transit website to see if their buses go to where you are going. Good luck, Jay

you definitely don't want to walk - as noted above, it would be difficult with the turns and neighborhood is not good at all. It would probably be most convenient to get a cab. They are always available at the train station and the fare to get to West Haven (depending on which part) should not be too expensive.

West Haven will soon have its own train station.

That is still many years away from opening. Construction of the station has not even begun and that can take several years to complete. Jay

wow! when? That is great news. Now they just have to lower the ticket price.
Thanks for tips. I just read there is a housing project next to the station. I will check out the CT Transit website.

There is public housing across the street from Union Station but it is not bad from my experience. The Police Station is there too so there is always someone around looking out for things. Jay

Have you ever try the private jet?I think you should try this at least once for the best experience.
