Fried Clams Hartford
Hi,
Does anyone know a good place to get fried clams in the Hartford area?
The only place I know of is the USS chowderpot but I have heard that the food there is not good.
Thanks!

Get out of Hartford and go to Indian Neck in Branford . By the time you get there form Hartford you will be ready to chow down, if you go in Spring/Summer though be prepared for a wait but it will be worth it.
You will not get better fried food anywhere !!!
Lenny's - Branford CT
But I guess I should add - Chowder Pot is yummy too. Just cause you heard it's no good doesn't mean it isn't.

When the weather's warm, I suggest a trip to New London to visit Captain Scott's Lobster Dock. It would be hard to find without mapquest, but their whole belly clams are fabulous, and so are their lobster rolls. Prices are quite reasonable. It's totally unpretentious, BYOB, al fresco, near a boatyard goodness!

Go to City Fish on the Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield. They are a fish market and supply most major restaurants and stores in the area with fresh fish. They have a take out service for fried fish and seafood and have a dining room to site down to eat after you get your take out from the counter. There is also a bar now. It is excellent because everything is so fresh. Their clams are wondferful as is most everything else. Jay

This isn't advertising. It's a recommendation (and not even a good one!).

JayCT has it nailed. City Fish in Wethersfield on Silas Deane is my favorite. Doogies is pretty good as a plan B. Also try Tinkers in Hartford.
Most places on the coast are grossly overpriced with a tourist markup.

That is right, Max Oyster offers fried seafood. So does Max Fish in Glastonbury, but it is pretty pricey. Good but pricey. Jay

Try Tinkers Seafood Restaurant in Hartford. Tinkers Seafood Restaurant User Reviews - Hartford, CT 06106 - Citysearch They're located on Park Street, right near the intersection of Prospect Avenue. Great food and reasonable prices.
