It isn't replacing constitution plaza, just the broadcast house.

The only folks these days with money to burn and back up things like this in the face of the econcomy is the UAE. LOL

Hey, whatever. Business is business and Mr Islam seems to be an up and up businessman.

Mayor Gangbanger sure did the city proud during the annoucement.
Mayor Eddie Perez generated a few puzzled looks from the crowd this morning when, glancing at his prepared script, he referred several times to "A-One Engineers ...''

This has been in the works for a few months now. AI bought Broadcast House for a very good price but the place needs too much work to remodel. It has been used for the past 40+ years as the studio for WFSB and had not been remodeled much. I am surprised that in this economy they are able to build such a large building. AI engineers has a good reputation and the fact thye will relocate there helps. I wish them best and hope to see construciton start next year as they plan. Jay

Wow, that's great news. Good to see some construction activity in Hartford. With this terrible economy, it's even better news.

I wonder if anyone can answer if these are solar panels or just windows in this photo: http://www.courant.com/media/photo/2008-12/43693252.jpg

If you go to the AI Engineers web site, they have a link to a detailed project description under their news section. It is very detailed with lots of pictures and drawings. To answer your question, I believe they are solar panels. They will only offset a part of the building's electric use but it is a start. Jay

I have to agree, those are solar panels. Since the office tower is LEED Platinum, this is common.

Also, a building this large receieving LEED Platinum is a huge mileston. Not many buildings this size accomplish that.

You're correct and I currently met one of the developers in the project at a real estate function.
