Groton, average monthly costs (utilities)?
I'm buying a house in Groton, and I'm just trying to get a good idea as to what I'll be paying for utilities and that sort of thing. The place is about 1150 sq. ft. There will be 2 adults and a toddler living there.
Any homeowners out there willing to tell me about how much I can expect to pay each month for:
Electricity, water, sewer (is that the same as water (new homeowner)?), garbage service, oil, am I forgetting anything?
Thanks for any help!

You should ask your agent to try to get this information from the other agent.

The other "agent" doesn't know anything about the place. It's a foreclosed property, so previous owners are not to be contacted.
So I'm just hoping to find out about what other people are paying. So I know what to expect. Is there anybody else out there that can help a guy out?

Find out what borough in Groton, ie. Groton City, Groton Town, Center Groton, Groton Long Point.
They all have different services available to them. My house is in Groton City so our water and electricity are from Groton City along with garbage pick up. Also, what type of heating system do you have?

I live in Groton and the utilities company is called Groton Utilites. The water bill is lumped in with your monthly electric bill. I can only tell you what I pay. I have a 1600 sq ft, 3 floor, condo ALL ELECTRIC. In the height of the winter/summer with central air/heat pump, I can pay up to $350 a month. On the low, neutral weathered months, I pay only about $70 per month. Hope that helps you some

I have always had great service with Rheaume heating. They stay competitive. They're a few cents higher but if you're a customer they will come out at the most inconvenient times for no extra costs. The oil co that always says they'll beat other co's by a penny (Bernie's) they won't stick to that when it's not beneficial for them and they don't provide good customer service nor do they care, that's my personal experience with them. Rheaume heating is based in uncasville and do very good service on the heating systems as well.

Follow up
Well, we're moved in and everything. Bought the place in December. Bills are as follows:
Utilities (water+electricity) = about $85 per month
Garbage/Sewer = included in taxes
Internet (going without cable TV) (through TVC) = about $35 per month
OIL (the real killer it seems, at least in the winter) = $265 per month
I know I won't be paying that much for oil as the weather heats up. I only hope that I can avoid using the air conditioner as much as possible during the warmer months, so that my electricity bill doesn't go up and make up for the oil I won't be buying.
